About
Why iriscares
At IRIS, work has never been the whole of it. We’ve always tried to help each other grow, and to give back where we can. iriscares is a small, shared space for that: a place to share what we have, connect with each other, and do some good in our own way.
Inspired by Swami, and the spirit of giving and growing together he lived by.
For the love of giving: places where things we no longer need can matter to someone else.
How it works
Books
Anyone can add a book or request one. A volunteer moderator checks every entry before it appears.
Books are borrowed on trust. Nothing is tracked.
Every book here is someone’s treasure. Handle it with care and return it in good shape. Be good, be responsible.
Giving
The organisations listed are ones we’ve given to ourselves, or that came recommended by someone we trust.
If you’re suggesting an organisation, please check with them first that they’re happy to be listed.
Contact details are shown only after we’ve verified the organisation and they’ve agreed. Personal information is never shown upfront, and DPDP rules apply.
Both sections are built together. The more we add and use them, the better they get.

We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules. This site is run by volunteers, for adults (18 and over).
What we collect: only what each form asks for: your name, and your email if you choose to give it. For organisations, the details you share about them.
Why: to run this site and nothing else. Your name appears with what you share. Your email is used only to contact you about your submission and is never shown on the site. We do not sell or share your data, or use it for marketing.
Your consent: you agree to this notice by ticking the box on a form. We record when you agreed and which version of this notice you saw. Organisations listing themselves agree separately to being listed.
Who can see it: only the site's volunteer moderators, who sign in with a password and a two-step code. Every change they make is logged.
How long we keep it: your email is deleted automatically 90 days after your entry is approved or declined, or after your request is closed. What you chose to share publicly (for example, a book note with your name) stays until you ask us to remove it.
Your rights: you can ask to see, correct or erase your information, or withdraw your consent, at any time using the form below. Withdrawing consent means we remove what you shared. We act within 7 days.
If you are not satisfied: tell us first using the form below. You can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
On your device: we use no cookies. Your browser remembers only your own conveniences, such as books you liked and how you prefer to view the shelf; you can clear these any time. Moderators' sign-in is stored only on their own device.
Other services: visit counts come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you. Book covers load from Open Library and Google Books, which see your device's internet address when a cover is shown. The site runs on Netlify and Supabase.
If something goes wrong: if your data is ever exposed, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
